To celebrate the efforts of volunteers, crews and crew leaders, Habitat for Humanity has dedicated a Habitat home for the Thang/Men family.

Thang lived in Malaysia for more than a year after fleeing his home country of Burma due to political unrest. While living in Malaysia in a refugee camp, he worked as a carpenter until he learned that he and his family could emigrate to the USA. He arrived here in 2010 and his wife, Sui Men, followed him two years later.

Thang and his family were living in an old, two-bedroom apartment in a high crime area of Clarkson. He commuted approximately 2 hours, five days a week, from Clarkston to Cumming where he still works at Tyson Foods. His dream was to move his family into a safer environment, but he could not afford to do so. When a colleague told him about Habitat for Humanity, Thang decided to apply.

He always believed that his hard work would pay off one day and getting a Habitat house was proof of that. “We prayed to God, and we are very, very happy (to have been approved for a Habitat for Humanity home!”) – Thang Thang
